DT Max T1

  1. Known issue fixed in version 26.20

Spouse deceased in the year and calculation of the Ontario seniors care at home tax credit

  2. CRA's Auto-fill my return service: Too many T5008 slips

If your client has too many T5008 slips, you will receive a warning telling you that they cannot be displayed (the amount of data is too large). This information must be entered manually.

In such cases, DT Max will save the T5008 slip data to an external CSV file and include a link to that file in a keyword in the T1-Autofill keyword group. This file can be opened using any spreadsheet software (e.g., Excel or Google Sheets).

You can simply enter the total amounts in DT Max that you have calculated using this spreadsheet.

For more information on this feature, please consult the "Many T5008 slips" section of the Procedure to download tax data from the CRA page in our knowledge base.

  3. Reminder from the CRA: 2023 tax season

Tax season has officially kicked off and many Canadians will turn to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) for guidance. We are ready to answer your questions and provide you with services to make it easier and quicker to file your 2022 income tax and benefit return, whichever way you choose to do it.

For most Canadians, the deadline to pay their taxes and file their return for 2022 is April 30, 2023. Because this date is a Sunday, a return will be considered filed on time if the CRA receives it, or it is postmarked, on or before May 1, 2023. A payment will be considered made on time if the CRA receives it, or a Canadian financial institution processes it, on or before May 1, 2023.

  4. Solidarity tax credit: Enhancement of the housing component

As announced in the Quebec budget of March 21, 2023, the indexation normally provided for the refundable solidarity tax credit's housing component amounts will be doubled and applied as of the next payment period, that is, the one beginning July 1, 2023. Thus, the solidarity tax credit's housing component amounts, applicable for the period from July 2022 to June 2023, will be indexed at the rate of 12.88% (instead of 6.44%) for the payment period starting July 1, 2023.

  5. Canada child benefit (CCB) and Newfoundland and Labrador income supplement and seniors' benefit: updated estimates

Following the budgets' announcements, the estimates for the Canada child benefit (CCB) for British Columbia and Alberta as well as the estimates for the Newfoundland and Labrador income supplement and the seniors' benefit have been updated.

  6. Improved opening speed of the Onvio Client List window

We have made changes to optimize the opening speed of the Onvio Client List window. This change should be a significant benefit to users with a large number of Onvio clients. This improvement is only available for firms licenced for Onvio Firm Management (Essentials or Advanced).

  7. New diagnostics

    1. Optimization report
